More than 150 sisters, mothers, wives and BFFs gathered at the Oak Lawn Hilton for the Seventh Annual Girls’ Night Out event on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. It was a night for women to treat themselves to good wine, delicious food and share stories with each other. “Women are the cornerstone of families and communities,” said Joan Murphy, RN, Ph. D., director of Little Company of Mary’s Women’s Wellness Consultants. “The Girls’ Night Out event is about giving women permission to make themselves ‘number one’ on the list and focus on their own needs.”
Little Company of Mary’s Medical Group Family Medicine Physician, Dr. Colleen Heniff gave the keynote presentation, “The Up, Down and All Around-A Women’s Journey.”
Dr. Heniff shed some humorous insights on keeping a well-balanced life. In Dr. Heniff’s presentation, she explained that women should be selfish every day and dedicate 20 minutes to themselves. “Take good care of yourself,” said Dr. Heniff. “Block at least 20 minutes every day for some much needed me time. Read a book or start meditating,” said Dr. Heniff.
After the informative presentation, attendees were in for a humorous treat with Joan Murphy, as she presented the “The Enthusiastic Woman.” Joan encouraged all women to move forward and not make the mistake of getting stuck in the past. Joan also challenged women to get inspired by the little things in life. “Some of the most beautiful painting and heartfelt songs of our lifetime were inspired by simple moments,” said Murphy.
Joan’s motivational speech left women feeling inspired to create a masterpiece of their own- after all this world is our canvas.
Joan further encouraged women to visit the Women’s Wellness Consultants at their new relaxing suite located in Little Company of Mary’s new Women’s Center for Life and Health. The Women’s Center for Life and Health includes the Women’s Wellness Consultants, Health Education Programs, diagnostic imaging, the Nationally Accredited Comprehensive Breast Health Center and the state-of-the-art Family Birth Center.
