Little Company of Mary Hospital Observes Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day on October 15th

Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers (LCMH) will host their Cherished Angel Perinatal Loss Support Group on October 15th, which also is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. On this day, people around the world will be lighting candles in memory of angel babies from 7-8 p.m. It is called the “Wave of Light” because candles will be lit in all of the time zones, resulting in constant light for 24 hours.

As a gift to our group attendees, with funds raised from the Cuddle Campaign at Little Company of Mary, angel moms and dads will be encouraged to light a candle in memory of their babies during the group on Tuesday evening.

“The unexpected death of a baby leaves parents with such deep heartache and sorrow,” said Kathryn D. Gardner, LCPC, PMH-C, Specialist in Women’s Issues and Cherished Angels Support Group leader at LCMH. “Caring, support, and guidance during this difficult time of mourning is invaluable to healing”.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month began in October of 1988 and Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day began in October of 2002, for parents who have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death. If you or someone you know are mourning the loss of a baby, Little Company of Mary’s Perinatal Loss Committee encourages you to join the Cherished Angels Support Group which meets the third Tuesday of the month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Resource Center Room S1145.
