Little Company of Mary Hospital Foundation will host the Crystal Heart Ball on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Field Museum. The event also showcases individuals and/or organizations for their outstanding accomplishments and service. This year the hospital will honor one of Southland’s well-known humanitarian group and an outstanding department at Little Company of Mary Hospital.
The Venerable Mary Potter Humanitarian Award will be given as a testament to compassion, commitment and the gift of empowerment. This year’s Venerable Mary Potter Humanitarian Award will be presented to the executive members of The Mulliganeers. The Mulliganeers is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for children and families in need. The Mulliganeers were formed in 1995 by a group of long time friends who felt compassion over hearing heart breaking stories involving children. They would often individually offer financial assistance to the family in need, however, they knew that collectively they could accomplish much more.
The Board of Directors and Committee Members of the Mulliganeers are all volunteers. The Mulliganeers has helped over 150 children and families and given away over $4 million since it started. Recipients are always children and children’s causes. The motto of the Mulliganeers is, “Giving Kids a Second Chance Since 1995!”
Women’s Wellness Consultants
The Sister Nancy Boyle Award for Excellence will pay tribute to a program that embodies the legacy and the life of Sister Nancy Boyle, LCM. This year’s Sister Nancy Boyle Award for Excellence honoree is the Women’s Wellness Consultants, who offer specialized health education programs geared specifically to women’s physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Since their 1980 formation, Women’s Wellness Consultants have provided innovative wellness programs conducted by registered nurses.
Under the direction of Joan Murphy RN, Ph.D., the Women’s Wellness Consultants have established successful outreach to women in the community to consult and partner with them in addressing their personal health needs. The Women’s Wellness Consultants demonstrate the mission of the Sisters to women of the community as they manage the challenges that women must face in today’s world.
