Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers hosted their Annual Remembrance Service in honor of babies who have left the earth too soon. The ceremony took place on May 19, 2013 in the Cherished Angel Garden, directly north of the Hospital.
The Garden was dedicated in remembrance of babies who have passed away and offers a place for family and friends to grieve and reflect upon the loss. This is the sixth year that the Remembrance Service has been celebrated, with a butterfly release closing the ceremony.
“We felt there was a strong need to find a meaningful way to remember and recognize these precious little ones,” said Mary Grimm, manager of the Family Birth Center. “These remarkable little angels continue to have a profound impact on our lives.”
The sisters of Little Company of Mary generously donated space for the Garden on the East side of their convent. The Garden was created and funded entirely through volunteer efforts from the Perinatal Loss Committee and the Family Birth Center Staff at Little Company of Mary.
If you or someone you know are mourning the loss of a baby, Little Company of Mary’s Perinatal Loss Committee encourages you to reflect at the garden. The garden is located in the east lawn of the Little Company of Mary Sisters’ Convent at 2801 West 93rd Street in Evergreen Park.
