Little Company of Mary Hosts Cancer Survivor Event

On Saturday, November 5th, Little Company of Mary Hospital (LCMH) hosted its Cancer Survivor Event at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Alsip. This full-day program was open to cancer patients, survivors and those who support them.

The event featured keynote speaker Ethan Zohn, winner of the hit TV show Survivor and two-time cancer survivor. Ethan gives the word survivor a whole new meaning. After winning the reality television show Survivor Africa in 2002, Ethan battled cancer in two very public bouts with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He became the megaphone for a generation of young adults with cancer, embracing the role as energetic spokesperson for various organizations. Host of the 2012 and 2013 Emmy-nominated show Everyday Health on ABC and Outside Today on the Outside Television Network, Ethan also was the host of Earth Tripping, an eco-friendly travel adventure show. The ultimate competitor, Ethan also has been a contestant on The Amazing Race, Survivor All-Star, Fear Factor and Eco-Challenge. Today, Ethan tours the world speaking about character, leadership, resiliency, service and how his challenges have become the source of his strength.

Following the featured presentation, guests participated in breakout sessions on a number of valuable topics. The event concluded with afternoon tea, harpists, and giveaways. It was a wonderful day filled with encouragement, empowerment and celebration of survivorship!
