Sunday, October 30th, was a very special day at Little Company of Mary Hospital (LCMH) as many families celebrated Halloween and much more with the wonderful staff of the Special Care Unit.
Here you see this group of Special Care Unit Angels with little Frankenstein. Frankenstein was welcomed into the world a little less than three years ago in Little Company of Mary’s state-of-the-art Family Birth Center. Minutes after birth, mom and baby were bonding with a skin-to-skin session when the baby began to turn blue. Calmly the nurse cradled the baby and worked with the Special Care Unit team to treat baby and after a few days in the Special Care Unit mom was able to go home with baby.
This is one of the many, many heartwarming stories shared at Sunday’s event. These caregivers are true experts and loved reuniting with the babies they feel privileged to care for. They work alongside the incredible neonatologists and pediatric specialists from The University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital – who partner with Little Company of Mary Hospital to provide families with a full continuum of care.
God Bless the Staff of the Special Care unit and thank you to all the families and thriving children who came back for a reunion filled with hugs and treats!
