Why did you decide to become a physician?
One of the most difficult experiences people go through is fighting disease or watching a loved one struggle through one. It motivated me to pursue a career in helping people live healthy lives, and in providing support and care to those that may be feeling helpless.
How did you choose your specialty?
I chose family medicine because I saw the importance in patients having a primary care physician to coordinate and manage their care, and synthesizing all the information for them. I value continuity of care and the profound relationships patients develop with their primary care physician. Family medicine also affords the opportunity for both preventive and therapeutic medicine. It covers a broad scope of practice, and helps tackle the socioeconomic issues of healthcare as well.
What is your philosophy of care?
Practicing medicine is about wisdom more than knowledge. It is about the relationships developed, the commitment to social justice and serving the needs of a community, giving attention to patient individuality, and providing comprehensive care – Being and practicing those principles of integrity and compassion that give a patient faith in their physician, and helping patients to afford the opportunities of a healthier life.
What do you look forward to the most in working with the patients at LCMH?
I look forward to developing those profound relationships.
What is the number one advice / tip you give your patients for healthy living?
Health and happiness go hand in hand.
